I deeply believe in every individual's potential to grow, change, and solve problems. Using several approaches to tailor therapy to each client, we work together to achieve more self-compassion, awareness, and understanding. This team effort is applied to best cultivate the most effective and efficient ways to reach all goals.
Often in my practice, Cognitive as well as Dialectical-Behavioral therapy (CBT and DBT), paired with mindfulness techniques are used to explore the ways in which thoughts affect feelings, which directly affects actions taken (or not taken).
I treat a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, addictions, psycho-spiritual/religious conflicts, intrapersonal identity, sexuality, and trauma, to name a few. I have extensive experience working with the LGBTQIA community, some "out," others not; some "still figuring it out;" some religious/spiritual, others not. I'll meet you where you are.
I'm a creative and dedicated clinician interested in exploring the full breadth of experience with each client. I value a humanist perspective in therapy, and work with clients to determine what approach to care they would find most fruitful for themselves. Often I draw from psychodynamic and experiential modalities, and I also value exploration of the mind-body connection.
I've worked considerably within the queer community to uncover and process shame. I believe that through the work of uncovering unconscious patterns and attuning to our felt experiences, we can elicit deep-rooted change.
I've earned my Master's from Brooklyn College and I completed my Bachelor’s degree at James Madison University. In my spare time I enjoy getting consumed by creative projects, connecting to my body through physical exercise and outdoor adventures, and losing track of time with my friends and family.
Our lives are vastly different, and for that reason, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. As a mental health counselor, I am deeply committed to tailoring my approach to meet your unique needs and experiences. My clinical background has afforded me the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, particularly within the LGBTQ community. I have extensive experience supporting individuals who are HIV-positive, and I am committed to ensuring that all my clients feel heard, seen, and affirmed in their unique identities.
In my practice, I work with clients across all life stages, from young adults navigating emerging adulthood to older adults facing later-life challenges. I have extensive experience with issues like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, sexuality, and life transitions. My approach is rooted in creating a safe, supportive space for you.
I utilize cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, and dialectical behavioral therapies, along with trauma-informed practices, to tailor my work to your unique needs. Whatever challenges you face, I’m here to support your journey toward self-awareness, resilience, and fulfillment. Therapy is a collaborative process, and together, we'll work toward your goals.
I am a mental health counselor with two years of clinical experience in a range of effective treatment approaches. My clients are from diverse backgrounds. In particular, I have a lot of experience working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community. My first goal is to create a supportive environment where everyone can feel heard and understood. I focus on the lived experiences of my clients and how both personal and social factors can influence the ways we live and grow in the world.
I have experience helping my clients with a wide range of individual challenges, most notably attentional issues (ADD, ADHD), career and life transitions, anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, and developing effective skills to build strong, supportive relationships.
If you are interested in discussing how we can work together on your current challenges, please contact me to set up an initial meeting and consultation.
