The Team is made up of licensed mental health counselors, serving clients in New York State (*some availability in Connecticut as well)
We are primarily out of network provider.s This means that you have the ability to submit our billable sessions to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
Often times, one ends up paying a comparable amount to what they would for an in network provider’s copay.
Like in person therapy, sessions are scheduled in advance, and are 45 minutes in length. Clients will access sessions via a protected link that is locked for privacy at the start of each session, ensuring complete confidentiality and anonymity.
Online therapy is not trying to replace in person therapy, but it is a great fit for many people. The ability to have a session where we are still able to see, hear, and interact with each other makes online sessions very similar to meeting in person. Meeting from the comfort of your home (or a private, safe space) means that the time spent commuting to an in person session can be skipped, and you can use that valuable time as you choose.
LMHC stands for Licensed Mental Health Counselor. That is the general practice of what one might expect from a psychotherapist with a Master’s level education; treat and diagnose people struggling with mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, stress, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other conditions. CRC stand for Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. It is very similar to mental health counseling, but with additional training that focuses on counseling people with disabilities such as (but not limited to) learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and mental illness.
We believe in everyone’s ability to grow and change. Some of the therapeutic processes that are used include, strategizing behavioral changes, becoming aware of irrational thoughts and belief systems, increasing emotional connectivity, as well as understanding the impact of meaningful relationships in one's life.
While The Team loves working with a broad array of clients, as a practice that is owned, operated, and comprised of gay men, there is a deep connection with the LGBTQ+ community, and there exists extensive training and concentration on some of the issues that most affect that particular population.
The first session can be thought of as a warm meet and greet, or safe space where both therapist and client can get to know each other, and develop the groundwork for future sessions.
Sessions vary based on what the client brings in week to week. While we may be working together on overarching goals that are established by the client, there is always room to explore what is on the front of the heart and mind.
Absolutely. Members of The Team have worked in the field of substance abuse, and are skilled in treating individuals and groups as they navigate their way through some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
Everyone can benefit from therapy at any point in their life; good, bad, and everything in between. Depending on the way we feel, our ability to be open to and to explore any number of issues varies, so the work done in therapy could differ depending on where you are in your life.
